new guy from OHIO!

Post by bigtrip460 »

 it looks like I should have introduced myself. I was looking for the weight of my 65 when I stumbled upon this form. Its nice to have a place where I am not gonna hear "It has to have a blower and a camaro subframe to be a hotrod."

these are from the day I bought it in 2005. the short version: the engine was running on six and would burn the tires all day long. it had traction problems and wheel hop due to the torque and general crappiness of the build. it was running a single point and after a LOT of trouble shooting (and different parts)I just went to a HEI. I never could figure out why 6 and 7 wouldnt fire I just replaced the engine. The tranny that was "all new" had the same quality as the rest of the truck and was burned up before i got it.

I planned on this being a project and a can of worms and I dont regret the money spent. I just wish the guy that built the thing in the first place would have taken a bit more time with it and invested in a gasket set for the front of the engine. what he did right is right but what he did wrong is a HUGE PITA... lol
its all a learning experiance and fun anyway right?

Hey BIG Trip 460, :welcome: Howdy From east Central Florida :hello:

Yeah Ya gotta love a slick with a 385 Series, especially a 460, got one my self doncha know? :dancing:

My 66 SWB is right at 3150 with me in it. but I run a light trans & cut stuff out I don't need for a 1/4 mile trip. I'd venture to day it weighs 3500 +/- stock with a 460 in it. :2cents:

Well any way welcome to Slick 60s. :hello: :thumright:

thanks! i never really got to "cruise" it yet due to all the problems the last guy left for me. thats what i get for buying from a lemon lot, eh? but it should be done soon and it will be a driver then.

I shouldnt complain too much. I mean I'm starting out mostly ahead of some projects, right?
