What was the damage in 1963?

I'm guessing around $2000 depending on options. You could get a bare bones Falcon for about $1800 so that should be in the neighborhood. Remember, a good yearly salary was about $7000 and you could buy a house for around $15,000.
As I remeber it, I think I paid $2100 for my used '62 4-speed 3x2 406 2-door sedan in '63.
It had 8,700 miles on it when I got it.

I can't say what it would have cost in '63, but my '61 cost $1900 brand new. My great uncle bought in new here in town. It is bare bones and didn't come with a heater at the time.
