So what's simpler than a plain jane F100?

The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

Wal-Mart shopping carts are always an option.
The big ones.
However, be gentle on the casters. They can be pricy if you have to replace them................... nah, just get another cart.
Wait a minute. You fell out of the tree raking the leaves????
Doc, get a grip.
You're supposed to wait til the leaves fall out of the tree before you rake them.
Hope the foot feels better. 8)

Actually, a falcon or similar era Ford with a small six gives you many of the equivalent niceties of a 65 F100. But you can put 4-5 people in it, instead of 2-3.

Doc, what will you give me for this?
64 fairlane 500 4 door
needs tires, seats, a wiper motor, headliner, and a water pump. starts, runs, was driven here. 289, auto trans. very little rust, none in critical areas.you could probably use the t-bird interior?
sorry to hear about your fall.hope you are healing up ok.

I would suggest a falcon or fairlane with a straight six. A dodge dart 4 door straight six(2 doors are too expensive). any small economy cars from the 60's. You can usually pick up the 4 door cars pretty cheap. If you look for a good 2 door the price is usually high. Another F100 is definatley an option. Trucks are always easier to work on than cars. No jacking it up to change the damn oil. ever remove a driveshaft from a car without jacking it up? its a pain in the A$$! No jacking required for trucks. Trucks are great! I did the clutch job on my 2wd F100 without even jacking it up.

You also might give a try to some of the old shoebox fords. simple, not too spendy yet, and nothing to 'em.

or as has been mentioned, falcon, ranchero, galaxie, etc.

You guys...

Doc, how 'bout a VW bug? Can't think of an easier car to maintain. AC is not an option though - in AZ I'd get one with a sunroof.

You can still find them derelict, and most parts are available aftermarket. Tons of info online. They're a blast to drive in town, but probably not a good bet on the interstate.

as a former bug owner,vw thing owner and dune buggy builder the only thing wrong i ever found with a vw was the poor heat.not an issue for you i know.Detroits attempt at a rear engine air cooled car failed thanks to Mr.Nader, but i owned a corvair and its just a 6 cylinder wide bug, had no problems with it either and the 6 put out a little more heat.

Mrs.Iceman and i are also not willing to have anything new for the same reasons you listed.i have owned 3 new vehicles in my life all fords and they all had problems, and i sold all of them before they were 2 years old.last time was in 93, since then it has been strictly bumpside and slick except for the 80 lincoln which i decomputered and filled up a trash barrel with garbage.ran good with the carb and regular intake but its illegal to do that , a federal crime in fact.
we sold it when the $140 dealer only headlight switch started going bad.
no hassles with the old stuff, thats why i got the fairlane,it will make a nice summer car when i get around to fixing the minor things it needs.

OK doc, you rake leaves while "IN" the tree and you have a VW engine "under" the back porch. We got to get this guy to Slickstock 08- he's our kind of people! Thanks, Lyman.

gah!

I thought the "bug" word was illegal 'round these parts of ford country

I'd take a 454 and stick it in my slick before I'd touch one of those

Yea, with a moniker like Doc, he can stay at my place for free. My missus says I cannot have a 66 falcon, though I have wanted one for years. Perhaps doc will find one for me!!
