When I redid the seam on the back of the cab I also would replace the caulking on the drip rail above the door and windshield. Especially if it is showing cracks and missing in places.

Thanks for the tip!

I started working on cleaning up that area as well since I was working around there.

So far I have found only two little spots of surface rust where the filler had lifted slightly up from the metal.

Got some more work done today on the Slick.

I started gutting the interior out so I can lift the cab off to clean/paint the frame beneath.

I also found these markings in the inside of the firewall behind the insulation pad.
I think they are related to the Ranger interior package

Now the cab is completely gutted, doors are off and the cab mounts unbolted.
Time to lift the cab and move it back next to the rear wheels for access to the front portion of the frame.

I had to laugh at these next couple pictures with the cab moved back on the frame. It almost makes the truck look like an old time rail type or digger type dragster with the frame stretched out in front and the cab right in front of the rear wheels. Also, from the back, it looks a lot like a jeep with the short frame.

Another round of work almost completed.

Cab rotated onto its back to expose the underside for cleaning.

After cleaning reveals the "XL" markings in three places on the bottom of the cab.

Finally, another update.
This one includes the work I started back in March, finishing the bottom of the cab, removing the engine and transmission from the "parts" truck, cleaning them up and installing some new components, painting parts, and finally, assembling into three different versions (for your viewing pleasure) before installation of the final assembly back into the frame...

I bought it here in Tucson, 11 years ago, and the parts truck was purchased here as well about 7 years ago.

Beautiful workmanship, I'd vote for the 6 pack version, really really nice job you are doing.

Yay! The engine/tranny combo is now back installed in the frame, and the cab has also been put back into place.
