Rebuilt carb

Post by willy3486 »

Some of you may remember I asked about rebuilding a carb or buy one rebuilt. Well after calculating time, parts cost, cleaner, and payment for someone to fix it after I fix it I just got a rebuilt one. I popped it on and all screws were prest except for idle. It ran perfect. I was able to run it up and down my driveway without flooding or stalling. I glad I did because the old carb was a miricle it even halfway worked. Lots of pieces on it wobbly and screws were stripped and such. IT was right at 100 for it. I thought I post it since some wanted to know what I was going to do .

I went throught the same thing. I did rebuild mine first, but the truck ran even more rich than it did prior to the rebuild. I also changed the plug wires, dist cap and coil. Not sure if this was needed, but she runs great now. The auto parts guy told me the carbs warp over time. The guys that sell the rebuilds may check for this prior to resale.

Good choice on the rebuilt one. Every carb I have ever worked on had to be thrown away! Thanks, Lyman.
