We had a pretty big wind storm roll through town last night and it bought down a massive pine tree. The tree missed the house by a foot and crashed into the "garage in a box" dome storage that my truck was in. I didn't have full insurance on it yet as it wasnt on the road (just collision) and now I have to figure out what to do with all this. Im hoping the door frames are good so I can put them back on and wrap it up in tarp for the winter. The roof is pretty bad so i know know how much im going to keep. i might sell off parts and look for another one.
and I had just done the cab
twisted and bent
The hood slammed down so hard that the battery terminals dented up through the hood
Thats to bad man. That has to be a sickening feeling seeing all that hard work on your truck just smashed away in seconds. I know Id be pretty upset. At least no one was injured or. Ive got big pines around my house and I worry about them all the time. Plan is to take ours down next spring and summer.
that's my hope as well. a new cab. the doors were in the basement so they are basically new, the seat was elsewhere as well. fenders looked ok at first glance. not sure how the engine and tranny did with the impact from above though. I only had $2000 into it. purchase, shipping and parts so im kinda lucky.
If it's too bad I'll just look for another 65-66 after the winter and start over.
dam that sucks gregg and it took you quite a while to find "the right one". hopefully she can be saved.

i could no longer keep "r.i.p.ing" all of our fallen brothers and sisters, so i say here, slick loads of love and much respect to all you beautiful people.
Ouch sorry to see those pictures... At least is missed the house and the people that could of been inside at the time.
Have you checked with your home owners insurance or renters insurance? Normally some of this could be covered. Also was the pine tree on your lot/land? Just a thought.
64 F100 short bed-style side-460-c6-with side toolbox and Dakota Front Suspension
And a 65 CrewCab
the tree was on the line so my insurance will cover up to 500 to remove it because of natural disaster. im not sure who to go to to determine ownership. My homeowners policy only covers whats inside the garage minus the auto because that's a separate thing. I do get the cost of the shed and if anything inside was broke. time to fire up the stihl
Sorry to see that, it's terrible to see work like that get destroyed in seconds.
What worries me even more is the amount of slicks I have seen that have come to grief with Big A$$ trees!! And I don't mean crashes at the front, I remember seeing quite a few that have had some massive tree chop a bed in half or fall on the roof.
Gregg, I feel your pain. I had mine come crashing down last winter.
Much less damage than you. I know its an afterthought but I have Allstate Specialty Car insurance on my truck (great policy, by the way) and was in to see my agent last week. Asked her about my truck when "in storage" and my premium went from $30 @ month to $15 and gives me full comprehensive while the truck is not being used. Then when I'm ready to put it back on the road---just a phone call reinstates the full policy.
Something to think about.
Noone ever tells you this stuff up front.

INEPTOCRACY: (in-ep'-toc-ra-cy) : a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.
Wow Gregg, Sorry to see that. Maybe when you get it uncovered and get a good look, you might be able to figure which direction you want to go.
New bed or top of bed side, Big window conversion, Replace the hood and maybe back on track. Don't let this discourage you. Maybe someone in the club has a regular cab roof to replace the damaged one. Don't give in that easy.
Fight back.
Post more pics when you get her uncovered.
I'm thinking the motor and tranny faired well.

thanks all, the tree crew is coming in a few days to have a look see. I could probably salvage most of it minus the cab. wrap it up for winter and deal with it in the spring
sorry to hear of your storm Gregg.... at least it missed your house and your family.... I think that a cab would be in order and maybe will fix most of the damage.... that truck is so solid to part out... just an idea... you have all winter to look and it might be cheaper in the winter.... good luck .....
Glad to hear the house and family are ok
I would look into the insurance a little closer. the first answer you get is not always to your advantage
I can remember coming home from college and seeing my mother sad,she had a check for 400. for a total loss on a 1969 nova that was immaculate.
Another insured driver, under the influence, from the same insurance company rear ended my brother on the freeway
I made the rounds to all the used car lots with the nova and asked the managers what they would sell the car for without the damage....We got the nova fixed.
That is a lot of work to dismiss...just sayin
