66 ford f*cking-100! Low, and Long!

Post by vwwomack »

I bought this Long bed 66 f-100 about a month ago. I got it super cheap, and I think it will look damn good with the body laying on the ground. I plan on stripping it to a bare frame, and have it blasted. The frame, suspension, motor are going to be super clean. The rest of the truck will stay the same, minus the rust repairs. Its a 240ci inline 6, and 3 on the tree. Its staying that way. Its going to be triangulated 4 linked in the rear, and its going to be converted to camaro front suspension setup. Should be a fun build. Just have to find the time. My plan is to have it done by spring of 2012.

how it looked when I picked it up.

Got the motor and trans out. Parts started showing up!

Well we got the cab off. It was redneck as hell, but it worked! haha. Got my 4 link setup in. Also started cutting some unneeded brackets, and crossmembers off the frame.

Well me and 2 buddies worked on the frame for a solid 2 days. We got quite a bit done. Rear notches are done. 4 link is all in, all thats left in the back is shock mounts, and bag mounts. The front is in place, and just needs the two frames blended into each other. Its coming right along.

Made up some c notches out of 2x3 .120 wall.

Stripped the camaro subframe Just so it would be lighter to handle.

Bare frame stripped of all the stock brackets, and xmembers that arent going to be used.

Setting up the notxhes.
Image

Notches welded in.(they look crooked, its the pic though!)
Image

4link setup all tacked in.
Image

4link setup all welded in, and put back together. Front subframe going into place.

Got a few other small things done.

I got some tires from a buddy of mine, so this is the wheel/tire combo Ill be running. I need another one of these hub caps! Keep a eye out for one!

Image

Started mocking up my lower bag mounts for the front. Just have to get them cut, or make them now.

Image

Trimmed out, and reenforced the buckets in the subframe. My bags are 7" the old hole ways like 6".

Image

My compressors came in!

The front clip all in place, and welded all up. I blended both frame rails all together, it came out pretty nice. We got the bed all cut out, and test fitted. This thing lays body hard!. I love it! Also got my tailgate that I found in local a junk yard on. Im super happy with how far this thing has come in like a month of working on it in my spare time.

Sweet build and your moving along quickly also... was there a reason for the camaro front clip?? just curious?? I think that if it works for you that is great but alot of the guys don't like the car clips unless it is a BIG car because of the weight of the truck?? I always liked them in the weeds... Popes is nice...

Keep up the nice work and keep those pics coming...

Now that is some serious process. Just a question. How much is the front camaro frame higher than the truck frame? I like it man. Been thinking about laying out my red truck.

You can put the front clip in any where you want it really. But its got about a 6" drop in it.

It was on church in burlington. It sat there for a long time.

I didnt take that many pics this weekend. But we got the rear bag mounts, and bags are on...and it goes up and down perfectly. I notched the front frame alittle more, and reenforced it some more. I made up a set of upper bag cups, got the front bags on, and in place. They just need to be plumb to go up and down. My buddy started cleaning up the inside of the bed alittle bit where the old wheel wells were.

Heres the only few pics I took...
