I disagree about blower costs being over 10k for a 302!

Finally!!!!! first trip out of the garage under her own power.

Tilt front is almost completed - will be done by end of Sunday

Man there is nothing like the stereo sound of a gear drive cam and a blower whinin away!1

now just need to find a set of cheap chrome wheelie bars for it

I like it.

In the gasser madness link, they do look nearly level. I think the smaller front tires provide the illusion that it is higher because of the gap between the fender. That's interesting. Were they always like that? Are these new gassers technically incorrect because the front is higher than the rear?

If you are so inclined, I bet you could build a solid axle for the front and use some of the twin I components along with a panhard bar for a pretty low cost - you might be able to weld two twin I beams together to make the solid axle.

it would be very easy to put a solid straight axle under it - but I like the drivability of the twin Ibeam and I do intend to drive it - a lot!!

My Chevelle already has 2000 miles on it since June and all it has been to is car shows - and i can see this one getting as much or more miles on it

In before the "truck is rejecting the heart transplant" comments. ;)

Seriously though, rotten luck. Hope you get it sorted out.

My first thought about the Moon tank and the line from it were vulnerable to impacts in their current location, but then I re-read your earlier posts and realized it's just your windshield washer reservoir, lol. Still, I might be inclined to move it above the plate (if possible), if only to show it off.

What's the story with the headlights? They look like halogen projectors. Retrofit?

they are halogen projectors that I bought for my 72 Chevelle, and one nite when we were wiring and found we had dead headlites - we used em so we could continue wiring.

Loved the look so left em in. Then blacked out the signal lites, and it all ties in with the big Mercury "M " and black backdrop I installed in the grille.

There really isnt anywhere feasable to mount the Moon tank other than where it is because of the tilt front end. The truck will never see parking lots or such where something like a curb could catch it - this is a drag and car show queen mostly. I mean at maybe 3-5 mpg how far can one afford to drive it lololololol Never mind i have heard blower bearings are not long lived, as in 1000s of miles dailey driver type.

Will know Saturday whether or not the motor is still ok. Thats the first I will have had time and help to monitor everything on a re-fire.

well the engine gods smiled on me this weekend.

Kinda sorta

Fresh oil and has about 42 psi pressure cold at idle and 22-23 hot. Goes up to 50 or so when reved.

Had to cut the centre out of a brand new stuck thermostat, and re-mount my fans tight to the rad to stop it from overheating. Downside is the thermostat is under the blower and a Pita to get at ... and the darn thing didnt seal when i put it back together so have to re -do it

But it is running and not hurt by the look of it so as they say "Onward"

Hope to road test it this week batting any other disasters lololololol

You might want to rethink the fiberglass insulation that is stuffed into the corners of the cab. That stuff is a moisture holding SOB and will rot the cab out quicker than heck. I have a cab that had fiberglass stuffed above the headliner and I discovered it about 32 years ago and ripped it out. It was moldy and was starting to cause rust on the roof of the cab.

tailgate with custom filler panel

carpet installed with new polished aluminum scuff plates

custom sheet metal headliner covered in black material with a raised embossed pattern

custom window fillers front and rear - the pictures don't do them justice - they are jet black - just need to paint the mounting screws black yet

seats are recovered, and mounted with custom end and centre filler panels - these are 96 F150 seats and modified modular seat tracks

dash repaired from big double din hole that was butchered into it

some new old pedals
