Bucket List

Post by Toyz »

Mike's thread on Shelbys has got me dreaming again.
Given a budget of, say, $100,000, what vehicles would make the top ten on your list?
Excluding a bunch of repeats, here's some of mine, in roughly chronological order:
41 Willys coupe
Jag XK140 drop-head coupe
Lincoln MK II
65 Monza mid-engine LS-X
Shelby GT350-H
Sunbeam Tiger II
67 Falcon 427 coupe

I don't think you're gonna make your budget with that list. Better ask the government to raise the subsidy

# 1 on my list would be a '40 Ford 1/2 ton dead stock
#2 '70 Boss 302
#3 '68 Gt500KR convertible
#4 '67 Bullitt style 390 Mustang in Highland green
#5 '67 427 AC Cobra
#6 "65 289 AC Cobra
#7 '69 Mach 1 428
#8 '12 Boss 302 Laguna Seca
#9 "12 Shelby gt500
#10 '69 Camaro Z-28 302
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

In all honesty I would be very tempted to invest the $100,000 in photography equipment, including a drive-in studio. Then photograph JC's bucket collection.

There are a few I would add to my list though, in no particular order:

1956 Ford 300, black-on-black, built y-block, dog-dish caps
1954 Meteor Ranch Wagon, traditional custom
1957 Ford Ranchero, traditional custom
1960 Starliner, traditional custom
Model A hot rod pickup, probably flattie-powered
A streetable Comet or Falcon done in a road-racing style, likely FE powered, or possibly twin-turboed Windsor (331 or 347)
Some sort of scratch-built oddball hot rod thing (one-man modified, cyclecar, or Ariel Atom-inspired beast)
And switching gears completely, a 2001 Acura Integra Type R, Championship White, supercharged but otherwise very tastefully modified

The other two on the list would be occupied by finishing/modifying the Merc uni and Nissan 350Z I already own. ;)

I flat forgot about the Ariel.
It definitely would have to make the list. I know of one locally; it's certainly impressive!
In fact you have a bunch of my favorites on your list.
The Starliners are finally getting their due IMHO, and I've seriously considered the Comet/ Falcon since I have a big-inch Windsor just setting around. It would definitely require a TCI or similar, since it's nearly impossible to fit the non turboed engine between the stock towers, even with the Lego-type Crite's conversion headers. The TCI and 427 inches of either Windsor or FE would definitely make a great Resto-rod!

My next truck will be a 51/52 F-1.

I want a 64/65 2 door Falcon so bad I can't stand it.

The Starliners are sweet for a little old lady cruise to get groceries on Sunday. So eventually, if one falls in my lap and I've got money burning a hole in my pocket...

And I want something with a 427 SOHC motor in it.

The 100 grand was intended as a per car limit, not total garage limit!
I just didn't particularily want to hear of the "designer of the week boutique" cars.
Looks as if our cumulative tastes run pretty well in the same directions!

Is a frog eye what you get when you add HID's to a bug-eye?
Nice choices, those vehicles have made my un-completed projects list in the (long-ago) past!

That's the way I interpreted it. ;)

I've wanted a Comet or Falcon ever since I say a former drag-racing Frontenac (Canada-only Falcon variant) for sale locally via eBay. :D

Your certainly puting a cramp on my style. The Testa Rosa alone would need the 100K for a down payment.

My "wish list" is sort of close to my actual plan...

Wish List: ($100k limit)
  1. 2012 Raptor, Black and loaded. http://www.autocarstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/Ford-F150-Raptor.jpg
  2. Factory5 Cobra Kit Car. World460, IRS, Grey. http://www.factoryfive.com/roadster/photo/roadster2/images/IMG_0201.jpg
  3. 1962 Mercury Comet with 2012 Ford Torus Ecoboost engine and suspention. http://www.affordableclassicsinc.com/ClassicsPgs/131-3128_IMG.JPG
  4. 2012 Jaguar XKR (Wifes Pick, but I would be cool with that.) http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2010/08/12/491710.1-lg.jpg
  5. 1966 GT40 Replica. Gulf Oil colors. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/ford/gt40/1236852.html
Actual Plan:
  1. 2012 F-150 Crew Cab with EcoBoost V6, Black
  2. Same as #2 above.
  3. Doesn't realy matter because I will probably just finish #2 before I die!
  4. See #3
  5. See #3

#8 '12 Boss 302 Laguna Seca
#9 "12 Shelby gt500
#10 '69 Camaro Z-28 302

$100K would barely get me to #2 on my list, although I think i might get a beater of a Boss 302 to squeak in under it. But 100 k don't go far in the Shelby world and I'd be stalled at choice #3 for sure

100K huh?
Don Nicholson's A/FX '64 Comet. that would pretty much take care of the budget, but would probably give me good morning wood until the day I die.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?
