Anybody put their radio in the glovebox?

Post by RedneckCowboy »

My dash is pretty well mutilated where someone tried to put in an aftermarket rado. So I was thinking since I've got some patch work to do anyways why not go ahead and just move the radio place to the glovebox. So my question is how easy it it to control the radio if it's in there (I will have one with a remote control but just overall) and how's the dash look with no radio there? Ps has anybody put speakers under the bench seat before because I don't want to put them in the doors?

If the dash is "uncut" it looks great.

Originally I put a 10 disk CD changer in mine. I used to have pictures. If I can find them I'll post for you.
Maybe give you some ideas.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.

I will be watching this one because I have the same issue... My dash was hacked up by someone that installed a radio at some point too. I see it didn't have a speaker hole above it so I figured it didn't come with a radio from the factory. That and the fact someone put the antenna hole on the left cowl kinda gave it away too. . So I welded a patch in it's place and finished off my dash as well. I would also like to put a radio in the glove box. Good question I will be watching...

Sheet aluminum.
measured the depth and screwed the front lip to the existing holes for the old glove box.
If I were making one for a radio, I'd make a right angle bracket to mount the radio "in", set it back a little from the front and pop rivet it to the floor plate.
Look at what I did and I think you'll come up with your own ideas better than mine.

My dash is tore up in the same area. I found a center section for a dash at a pick and pull and was gonna replace the damaged area. I was debating on going radioless or puting one in the glove box.

Mine is uncut and will probably stay that way. It had a JVC CD/AM/FM under the dash when I got it, but I could barely hear it on the highway and gave it back to Jonas.

My plan is to buy an Amp and mount 2 speakers in the headliner. I will then connect an iPhone directly to the amp using these:

Everything will be hidden except the iPhone cord that connects to the phone which will be laying in the middle of the seat. Actually with this setup, I can attach an iPhone, iPod, or iPad to the truck and use it.

I have an uncut dash I'd sell , I was going to repaint it , hang it on the wall and display diecast F100's on the dash. I've had it two years and it's still in the rafters of my garage. I will sell it for what I paid for it .... $100 plus shipping PM me if interested.

entire dash replacement is not as difficult as it seems.
