AVG Antivirus alerts

I realize that this post belongs in the bug reports forum, but I wanted to make sure that this post is seen by as many people as possible.

We have received a report that a user who is using AVG antivirus is getting alerts when attempting to visit the site. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, please post up here and let me know. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated - particularly what operating system you are running, what browser you are using, and what virus software you are running (including version). Also - specifically what message are you getting from your virus software

This was brought to my attention on Thursday, at which time I downloaded the entire site and thoroughly scanned every file, but found nothing. I did find some old scripts which may have triggered a false positive virus alert. I removed those scripts, as they were no longer in use. I am just trying to determine if this is an isolated incident, or if others are having this problem, but are not reporting it.

Jim, I`ll have to get my brains truss to answer that! , but it was the AVG that was blocking it!, yesterday it would do it again if I pressed Board Index!

I am running Firefox on both XP and Win 7, with Microsoft Security Essentials - no problems.

Is there a specific message you all get from AVG? Or is it just a generic alert?

Can anyone post a screen shot of the alert?

I am not using AVG and I am getting some alerts. I am using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware with Windows 7 and internet explorer along with the windows 7 security stuff.
The reports that I get just say that Malware blocked a suspicious threat if I remember correctly. I haven't gotten one in a while now.

No problem here with either Firefox or Chrome, but I run Ubuntu Linux instead of a Mirosoft OS.

I've noticed somewhat frequently late at night the site seems to be down or just acting very sluggish. Kind of like an AM radio station that gets weaker at night because they turn down the transmitter.

Here is what I get.

MalWarebytes has successfully blocked access to a potentially malicious website 64.29.151.221
Type:outgoing
Port 53847, process: iexplore.exe

I don't always get this, it is random.

A whois pulled this as the owner of the IP address:
(Be sure to keep reading on down.)

Handle NET-64-29-144-0-1
Ref http://whois.arin.net/rest/net/NET-64-29-144-0-1
Name MEGA-2
OrgRef InternetNamesForBusiness.com
CIDR Length 20
Start Address 64.29.144.0
End Address 64.29.159.255
Type DA
Description Direct Allocation

Contact addresses

POC1 Description Abuse
POC1 Handle ZI51-ARIN
POC1 Email admin@internetnamesforbusiness.com
POC1 Info http://whois.arin.net/rest/poc/ZI51-ARIN

POC2 Description Tech
POC2 Handle ZI51-ARIN
POC2 Email admin@internetnamesforbusiness.com
POC2 Info http://whois.arin.net/rest/poc/ZI51-ARIN

Name resolution reveals the following:
hostedc40.carrierzone.com - an e-mail management company.
According to the error message, Internet Explorer tried to talk to hostedc40.carrierzone.com on port 53840.
The port number means nothing, and the rest of it makes no sense.
If you have a secondary mail client, that might explain it, but I dunno.
So for this one, I can't tell anything significant, but would probably mark it down as a false positive.

I am always able to get on the website without having to close out and start over. I just get the box that comes up with that notice. Maybe it is trying to open a different webpage at the same time.
I can't imagine that microsoft Windows 7 would have any problems their software.  :boxing: LOL
