No luck anywhere else even eBay head bolts. I’m waiting till ARP gets themin,

I got home from DC to my new carpet and a few other items.
Image

New vs old carpet

Image

Mats backing on the new much nicer than the old carpet. The carpet color is slate grey.

Image

Redid the red on my radio box.
Image

Same box on eBay for 40$ and in poor shape, it’s a masters tackle box.

It’s storming outside right now, no work on my truck or house being done.

I did start putting in the new carpet though
Image

I need a better knife so I can finish installation.

Finished putting in that new carpet, and put the seat back in.

Set up the radio.

Retro sound.
Used a Masters Tackle Box I bought at an antique shop about 6 months ago.

Hide away antenna is behind the passenger side seat, right at the lower edge of the window.

This is what you see from the outside... hide the antena

Those two vertical holes are for a cup holder.

From the inside. So I cut a piece of plastic that i had used for the rear cab panels. I covered it in a piece of vinyl. Riveted the tray to it. Just so stuff wont accidently fall into the radio compartment.

That plate in the inside of the open lid... thats my original door vin tag.

Still waiting for my head bolts from ARP. This is torture.

On another note... a BOSUN CWO across the hall at work was talking to me about my upcoming promotion to NAVAL ENGINEER CWO and he said something that made me laugh way too hard act because it’s so true.

He said “has anyone ever told you-you are a German Shepard?” I said no..
“You are the type of person who has to be worked and worked effectively..... or you are gonna get bored and EAT THE F***ing COUCH!” He was cautioning me about how I have to let my guys on the shop to the heavy work.

I am still laughing at this because it’s so true.
It’s 0630 and I’m waiting for the rain to pass over so I can go out and rent the spring compressor so I can change my front struts out on my F150.

I’m gonna eat the couch.

Pretty cool zipper pockets in the door. My truck had those when I got it in 84. I don’t even remember what happened to them.

Oh the humanity. I’m still waiting impatiently for these head bolts.
I’m really up on a fence here. 3 weeks till promotion and transfer. 4 till the long deployment.

I hate my current job due to the factory mentality it is. I teach the same class at the same time each week for the last two years. If I wish for the time to speed up, I lose out on quality home time. If I wish it to slow down, I suffer through more.

Come on ARP.. I need these bolts so I can get some garage therapy in here.

Like 5 months ago, I contacted green sales, and Dennis Carpenter looking for an oil bath for my truck. Was told no. That prompted the call out on the want to buy board.

About a week or two ago I got this one from green sales
Image

I need to take it in garage and see if it will fit my carb. I have been working on trying to make one work, but it’s been rough.

ARP still hasn’t charged my account for the head bolts so I’m still stuck. It’s been 7 weeks since I ordered them......

Tried that too- they didn't have them in stock. no one had any in stock. I was on a call list for headbolts.com but heard nothing.
ARP has my credit card number because they already sent something else I ordered at the same time.

It is unbelievable that you have waited so long for a set of bolts. I'm sure you have tried your local parts stores, but just for kicks, I was in O'Reilly's yesterday and had them look up a set of head bolts for a 223. They showed in stock and could have them today. Might be worth another shot??

Interesting because when I went to oreilly I got a dumbass at the counter and “special order” response.
Autozone would sell only 4 at 16$ a piece. Any others special order.

Headbolts online..... we’d get back to you when they are available.

Having already purchased the bolts nOS back a long time ago I wasn’t risking that again.

Was under a little of frustration I just left it at ARP. There is a ton of stuff going on in this house as I prepare for my next sea story.

I’m out of time. I had originally purchased this from ARP then got the it’ll be mid May timeline. So they will mail them out when they get them in. Called the other day after the mid May expected date passed and given a minimum 10 more days from that date as they are making 23;000. Though ARP claims they make all in house, I am sure this was outsourced and manufacturing is the same for all suppliers like parts houses and headbolts online.

I’m out of time. I promote on Friday, I transfer the following Monday. I deploy a week later.
My parents will be visiting in a couple days and I called ARP back and gave my friends address for the shipping.

When I get back in the fall, the parts should be here. Cooler days and cool nights. Cruising season won’t be over just yet, but I will be ready to go by then.

Goal is to get this running soon as I can.

Parents flew out from Oregon for my promotion ceremony we had on Friday.
It’s official... I was commissioned as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 in the naval engineering field.
Yesterday was my check out day at the base and tomorrow I report to my new unit- my 5th ship.

Listing to port pretty heavy here.

Image

Today I will prepare the dogs for their deployment on Saturday by getting the vet appointments, buying their meds and food as well as 3 months of poop bags. I will be dropping them off at their foster parents house Saturday in Maryland.

House is almost ready but I need to go to the post office and stop all mail delivery or have it reverted to a different address where my friend can collect it.

I hate that I am about to deploy but it’s gotta happen. You can’t really ever take the sea out of a sailor.

I’ll be around a few more days but you know how that goes.

That's a bummer about your bolts, but that is a nice looking oil bath. Did it end up fitting?

Also congrats on your promotion! That's a a lot of hard work. Hope the sea treats you well
