Severe Thunderstorms and Tornado Warning

Post by Gritsngumbo »

for our area. Touchdowns sighted just a few miles away. We're hunkered down in the bathroom and the center hallway. Never done this before even when we lived in S.E. Missouri (which is in tornado alley).
Still have power, internet and TV which is strange.

They say to listen for the sound of a freight train. Only problem is that freight trains cross the end of our road several times a night and we never notice them.

Looking at the radar, it looks as if the worst is over for ya'll. Hope you are unscathed, Grits! The tail of the system is just coming across our area; we haven't even had rain yet, but it looks as if it's coming. No weather alerts here currently.
Edit, 10:50, heavy rain here, and looks like a second round headed your way, the same line that's hitting us currently.

They're saying it will be bad for another two hours or so. New rotations in the parish just south of us.

No the floor. My daughter grabbed the tub :-) and my pillow. We can hear the TV from the living room. My wife's tweeting updates from her Facebook friends and the TV to one of the local radio stations.

Thanks Chris. Looks like the worst has passed praying.gif
When I moved to Springfield MO, the first few weeks I was on the job, we spent more time in the basement of the newspaper than on the main floor.

Why is a tornado similar to a divorce?

Either way, someone's going to lose a trailer house.

And I thought I was hard done by having to stay in the house while the blizzard raged outside for a day or so! 4 foot drifts in the yard this morning. Good tryout for the new-to-me 4WD Ford pickup, I guess.

All is fine and dandy with us. I finally called it quits and went to bed about 12:30. Took my friend's advice: "If the Lord wants me, he knows where to find me". No damage on our property but lots of water.
Sorry for not updating earlier. I had to leave home at 6:00 this am to pickup two workers from the half-way house to load up a bunch of doors, windows , cabinets and commercial light fixtures on my trailer.
The stuff was from a tear-out of a home builder storefront sales office and the leasing agent told my wife she could have it all if she hauled off. 911 - Husband
A good dozen multi-panel doors, one very nice french doors and three "french style" floor to ceiling windows (for my wife's "tiny house" project). Thirty of the "drop-in" ceiling light fixtures with T-8 bulbs. Need a few these for my shop.
And a bunch "showroom samples" of kitchen and bathroom cabinets. What can I say? I'm a hoarder.

Did see a large portable building, 12'X24' or so (being used as storage at a local convenience story) literally on it's roof this morning.
Here's a pic: Image
