So I took off my new truck's air filter cause it seemed very oily to discover that it was filled with oil.
Reading a little bit on here I guess that its supposed to be like this? (My oil all spilled out when I took it off) Can anyone tell me how I should clean it and what kind of oil should be used in it?
I wiped mine out with paper towels and put some 10w40 engine oil back in it. I don't remember if I cleaned the fiberous element or not. If there is more to it than that I'm sure someone here can advise.
Wash the element in gas and let dry, wipe out filter housing and fill with motor oil to the line marked in the housing, add the element, housing cover, hold level and replace on the motor, tighten down the cover. Repeat once a year. All done

Congratulations! Those are the best filters in the world for keeping dirt out of your engine. But, only if they are properly serviced! milomilo has provided you with EXCELLENT advice and instruction. Follow it and your engine will love you long time.
They don't do well on fast ride off road stuff because of all the sloshing. But for the guys that take them off and replace them with a nice, clean, chromed housing dry paper filter I feel....
PITY!
A brand spanking new paper filter doesn't filter out anywhere NEAR as much dust as an OIL BATH INLET AIR FILTER (the "proper" nomenclature).
A dry type element, as is found on most cars today, ONLY starts to approach full filtration as it begins to get clogged!
As far as the "Performance" filters like K&N that require...guess what...OIL!...to "catch" debris as it streams past the media, they can't touch one of these either since the dirt on an OIL BATH has to go SWIMMING thorough the oil before it can get to the carb.
HOWEVER...WARNING! For anyone that is putting a late model, fuel injected engine in their SLICK, any oil, of any type, is a no no for MAF (mass air flow) fuel control systems. The oil will contaminate the "hot wire" on the sensor and ruin it. Very expensive.
