Paint opinions and rear bumper ? for a Flareside

Post by mikemann0 »

The all the red is from me so far and the black is from the p.o. which I will be fixing soon , My question is that I am painting the body and bed black but was thinking of doing the flare on the front fender and the rear fenders on the bed red , 1-too much ? (cant find any pics of that 2-tone style) , 2-grill red or black ? Also I have the wrong rear bumper It has a sport bumper from a Styleside (way long) I could cut the ends off and section them back in to be shorter or get the right bumper ? Thanks.Image , Image

Well, since you asked for opinions.....I think painting the front/rear flares red is definitely too much!! I've seen it done (mostly on stylesides) and have always hated it! Usually, the only two-tone scheme that works on a flareside (in my opinion, which is what you asked for... :) ) is body one color/roof another color. Anything else usually looks like you're trying too hard and just becomes a distraction.

As for the bumper, cutting the sport bumper down to fit the box might be kinda cool if you tuck it in close to the bed.

Of course, these are just my opinions. It's your truck. You can do it however you'd like.... :D

I think it would look good with the red roof and the rest blacked out, but like Randyr said its your truck, do whatever you want. If anyone doesn't like it tell them to kiss your cut down styleside bumper!

Mike.
Personally, I have never seen a two tone flair side that I really liked. Ever.
There are just to many conflicting body lines on a Slick.
As for the grill and or bumpers, I think that would depend on the body color.
I did see one that had a white roof that looked pretty good.
But like we say here, its your truck, its your money, and its your time.
Do it your way and we'll all like it...... including me.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

Thanks so far for the opinions , I actually thought it might be too much and in your face also , definitely going black on all else then , seems to be the concensus and I was leaning that way anyhow , I will shorten up the bumper and tuck it in , Its just a little of my time and if it don't look right I can order the right one , The truck wont be for the purist and not a trailer queen just a cool old driver im hoping for.

Looking good!

Never been a fan of blacking out the grille -- especially the '65 (my personal favorite) -- I'd maybe try the red on the grille.

(I really only think they look right in the Wimbledon White... but that's just me)
