Ever since CSX2287 was named as the first car on the Historic Vehicle Association's Registry she has been on a media blitz tour. She has been displayed at the Library of Congress, the Washington D.C. Auto Show, the Philly Auto Show and a bunch of photo shoots for various magazines. But, now, finally, she is back home where she belongs...

This is just a quick update. Back in December, Peter Brock was at the museum to film a documentary about CSX2287. Well, a portion of the documentary is finally available online. Here is the link to it...

Hey Greg,
Danny is absolutely correct! That is the museum's 1936 Bugatti Type 57G "Tank". Winner of the 1937 24-Hours of Le Mans. It is one of the most significant cars in the collection (right behind the Cobra Daytona Coupe - IMHO)

I guess that I should also explain the other cars in that photo...
This was our "Chasing Speed" Demo Day. It was a tribute to Land Speed Record holders.
Starting with the 1964 Cobra Daytona Coupe and working backwards...
- In 1965, CSX2287 set 23 international USAC/FIA speed and endurance records at Bonneville. The most impressive record is 150 MPH "average" (INCLUDING hand-pumped fuel stops) for 12-hours with a top speed of 187 MPH.
- Next is a 1954 Austin-Healey 100-4 BN1. In September, 1953 Donald Healey took a randomly selected "stock" model 100-4 from a showroom floor, drove it directly to Bonneville and broke over 100 Class "D" records. He averaged 104 MPH for 30-hours. His top speed was 142.6 MPH.
- Next is the Bugatti "Tank". That story is pretty well told in Danny's link.
- Next is the 1937 Cord Supercharged 812. In September, 1937 a coupe version of this car set the record for the "Flying Mile" at Bonneville at 107.66 MPH. Also, the car in the photograph won first prize at the 1955 Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) Grand Classic with 100 points. It is also the oldest winner still registered in the CCCA. Also, this was Dr. Simeone's father's daily-driver.
- Next is a 1935 Auburn 851 Boat Tail Speedster. A car similar to this one was driven at Bonneville by legendary driver Ab Jenkins at 100+ MPH and set many records.
- Finally, there is a 1933 Auburn 12-165 Salon Speedster. This is the most rare and the fastest of the Auburn Speedster series. This is 1 of only 14 ever built. A car identical to this one set many records.

I love the photos of the stripped bodywork on the Bugatti - aircraft style flush rivets.
