Hello,

I'm the owner of this truck (not for sale BTW :D ) Greg noticed my RCGroups avatar pic and the rest is history...

My dad and I built the truck over about a year and a half for my first car.
We did (almost) everything on it ourselves (minus engine, C6 tranny and seat upholstery). It's all steel, inc the (fake  ) scoops.

I'll post some build pics if I can get my dad to scan and email them to me (computers are not really his thing)

Ryan

how do you post images btw?

post pics to your album like this neat little demo
http://fordtruk.com/forums/tutorials/cr ... _pict.html
Then under the pics in your album, there will be a code like [albuming] 2355[albuming]
... Just copy that code into your thread here and it brings up a thumbnail of the pic,[albumimg]2582[/albumimg] clickable to get a bigger pic.luck.gif

Oh and WELCOME!!

Ryan.
Welcome from another RC flyer and Slick owner.
I have mostly sailplanes (I'm a purist don't you know  ) but I did just recently buy a 1/4 scale Great Lakes Special that will use a 120 4-stroke.
I'm planning to build that this winter.
Nadine is almost done with everything except paint. I hope she turns out as nice as yours.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the welcome! And thanks Johnny for the tutorial link... I'll throw this one up until I can take/get more...

Uncle Skip- that Lakes project sounds great! I fly mostly small electrics now (easier in college dorms  ) but I do have a .46 glow Ultimate Bipe scratchbuild in progress. Good luck with your projects!

Edit- pic didn't work, try this [albumimg]2711[/albumimg] -got it!

Beautiful truck, welcome aboard!! welcome.gif

I'm gonna go ahead & guess here...those scoops are made from cutting the hood indents out of another hood, flipping them over & welding them to that one? Or did you make those from scratch?
I've pondered that very thing in the past, but wasn't sure if it would look any good...I think they look KILLER! 8)
Thanks for posting that pic. :D

I've also thought of making them functional by making some aluminum ram-air duct work on the bottom of the hood, that would sit flush against a factory flavored ram air air cleaner. whistle.gif :D

Hello Yall,

I will have some construction photo's sometime next week to post.

Slick Fan- your'e close- we considered that, but these are 20ga. on a 3/16" x 3" front edge (they end up about 3/4" higher than flipped over indents) We succeeded in warping almost every square inch of that hood with the welder  .

Greg- thanks for pointing me here!

Alan- sorry- I'm already too much of a burden :D Strangely enough, the thread that Greg linked above is a build thread on a Sopwith Scooter! 8) (maybe you saw that....)

Johnny- Thanks. We searched all over wrecking yards for inspiration/donor scoops, but none fit. We finally broke down and tried this. The secret is keep them LOW to flow with this bodystyle's clean lines.

Ryan, another welcome to the forum. Love the Slick, and also your hood scoops, they look awesome. Just guessing but another benefit to the scoops, stiffen up the hood sheetmetal?
