64f100sixcylider, just working to get it on the road ASAP. Probably upgrade the generator at a later date.

I was wondering about the off white color of the block but with the black valve covers and in the red engine bay it looks AWESOME! Nice choice.

Thanks OrangeRCode. It did come together nicely.
More update pics. Pass door sanded and primed inside and out. Other than some light surface rust on the bottom its super solid and straight. This is probably the most rust free thing I've ever worked on in my life. Next up, sand and paint the inside and the jams with Wimbledon White.

Nothing like new clean parts to give a guy some energy on a project. Looks like you have it on the right track. Those inner front splash pans and core look very nice.

If you are going to tow your race car, I would suggest a dual master cylinder instead of the fruit jar.

I second the brake upgrade. The std brake son these trucks leave a lot to be desired. I've never done it, but understand you can use the 67-79 spindles on the straight axle to upgrade to disks at a reasonable cost.

As you know, this truck will be hauling around our race car, the Canned Monster. We just fired the engine yesterday for it. Here is some video.

Very cool build - I'm checking it out for the first time. What a great body! You were pretty brave to go through that Y-Block the way it was, but definitely the right way to go for that nice original truck.

Thanks Gary, its been a fun and interesting build so far. Very close to firing it up. Just a few more loose ends and I'll light it off.

I had not heard of that. I'll look into it. Right now just trying to get it road worthy. Im finding its much harder to upgrade a 3/4ton than a half ton would be. Not much if any after market options. It wont be towing anything for at least a year so I have time to refine it as it moves along. I'd much rather have discs.

The 67 and up deal is only for 65-66 1/2 ton trucks with the twin I beams.
