Uni chassis help

Post by 62BlueBomber »

i have a 62 Uni that I'm working on and the previous owner Frankenstein-d a 69 chassis to make it 4 wheel drive and lifted it. My project is to lower the truck back down, but keep it 4 wheel drive. Are their any modern, 4 wheel drive chassises that will fit? The engine is a 390 V8 Big Block with a C6 transmission. All thoughts, advice, and suggestions welcomed.

Be cautious of keeping it 4 wheel drive. Ford never made one for a very good reason. There is no room for flex in the frame. A regular truck with flex between the cab and the box. If you never go of road, you'll be fine. if thats the case, use a 4wd ford frame from 96 or older to make it work. Gonna be some fab work, but I can't see it being all that tough.
62 short-uni, cv front swap, 4.6/auto

not sure thats really a worry
i have seen a couple, on factory correct 4x4 frames that were not in any way bent behind the doors or other damage

i however will give a thorough report on off road with a cord of wood likely this fall if my uni conversion gets done
