lowering kit

Post by shane amigoni »

Has anybody used the lowering kit from Canuck motorsports (1965). It's a 4 in front drop and a 3 in rear. It comes with evrything you need for the drop and costs around $850.00. Just wondering if anyone new the 411 on these.

There are 2 companies that make dropped I-beams for our trucks, AIM and DJM. Check with Chassis Tech for the AIM parts.
$850 seems very high. I-beams should be just under $500 and then whatever the shackles and/or hangers cost.
If you drove a Ford, you wouldn't need a good wrench!

You can get the whole DJM setup from http://www.summitracing.com/ for about 650 to 700. 3/4 drop.

What other parts would be required to use the DJM Drop kit?

I think it has everything you need. I have an old set of drop beams made in Ohio in the early 90s, they just swapped out with the stock ones on a 78 F150

I just installed the DJM drop beams. Comes with king pins and adaptors for the tie rod ends. about $550 Took about 4 hours. Dropped 3.5 inches. On the rear I flipped the front hangers. Dropped about 4. 5 inches. Spent about $100 on new bushings on the radius arms and in the rear springs. I run 17x8 255/60s in the front and 17x9 285/60s in the rear.

I have not figured out how to post an image but here is a link to a web site I just started and you can see a picture of it there. Lowering it and getting it running was my first step. Planned is paint and a 460.

Older thread I know but I have a question... In that link above of dlw66's truck with the lowered beams and all I have a question. My 66 F100 sits about that same level right now with all stock suspension and the front even has too much positive camber. If I go with dropped beams and flip the rear I am afraid it will get raised up more than it is now. I don't see any difference with the dropped beams, how come?
I would like to run 15 inch wheels in the front and 17's out back with 60 series tires around and get the widest wheel and tire out back... Any suggestions? I'd like a 4.5 inch drop in front at least.
