i have a 1964 f100 292 3 spd . when i drive it. its all over the road. i put in the air and replaced the tie rod ends. i also repacked the wheel bearings. after repair most of the looseness went away, but when i drove it still all over the road. iput it back in the air. and noticed when i turned the wheel slightly i get a lot of slop out of the steering gear.has any body rebuilt there steering gear and inproved steering?

you should have someone that specializes in rebuilding them, I never had to have one done, I just find a good used one, but I believe a local restoration shop can lead you in the right direction to someone that rebuilds them

Might try tightening the adjustment screw first. Mine was already maxed out, so I had to go the junk yard route. I have seen a couple places that rebuild them. There is one close to me in Seattle that I think would do it, Red Head steering or something like that. I know they do good work. Just not sure if they do this particular type of box. I'm taking my '78 4x4 steering box to them soon.

You might want to check with Rick Allen at Carolina Classics. I believe that they used to rebuild steering units for our trucks...Not sure if they still do.
