Slick 60's

So I'm watching this cheesy science fiction movie
Low budget sci-fi channel show
These people (scientist I think) are driving , needing to get somewhere
To be able to save the earth !
They come to a block in the road....
They get out and look at the situation...
Yep... We gotta turn around
So they get back in the car
She turns the key
The engine spins over fast.. But she only cranks it for about a second or two
Guy in the passenger seat asks "what's wrong?"
She tells him it won't start........
( I think I would have kept on cranking a bit .... Saving the world & all )
Cut to scene of ,something in space ,hurtling toward earth.....
Cut back to the 3 of them with the hood up on the car
Guy looks it over....
And then he says this....
"Yep ! ......... Alternator is shot"

I turned the channel ... I knew earth was screwed

Lol

Yep, that alternator will spin then over fast never fire a lick every time.

With a brilliant mechanic in the passenger seat, they were in good hands.

Golly Gee whiz , I thought everyone knew about those rare alternator/ distributors, you know like the starter/generators installed on some motors.

Once he saw he was out of muffler grease and distributor fluid he figured it just had to suck the vacuum out of the alternator..... geesch were did you go to mekenick school?

Didn't they watch (Two Lane Blacktop?) they probably needed to change the jets !
