Slick 60's

I have a 64 f100 short bed and a Dana 60 with 9 leaf rear springs. What are some options on softening up the ride a bit? I use my truck to haul some light items so it is mostly a cruiser. Every time I go over a big bump, I almost hit my head on the roof. I just pulled my bed off to install my fuel tank so now is a good time to make a change.

Is your truck a camper special? They were equipped with the dana limited slip and heavier springs. 9 leaves are probably 4 more than a std f100. I'd think about either removing a few leafs or getting a set of std springs.

I am considering the No Limit 3 link or the Fatbar 4 link. The welding part is what I am nervous about.

Has anyone on here used the No limit 3 link setup? There isn't much info out there on the install or the results.

Decided I am going with the mono leafs from POL. I don't really want to go over the top right now on the rear end.

What springs should I use around the new shocks? The mono leafs are a 4" drop and the shocks are lowered too.

With 4" of drop, your shocks won't be doing much, without relocating the brackets. They will be more horizontal than vertical, which means minimal compression and rebound for the same suspension travel, which you won't have much of, without frame modifications. The result is that your ride may be even more harsh now because you will be hitting the bump stops, if you are not riding on them.

On my longbed 64 I had the same problem - lumberwagon ride and the truck sat too high. I just removed 3 or 4 leafs , installed some good shocks and for little money truck now sits right and rides smooth.

this is a trick that we and few others did and Like I said I by far do not go by most books/bookworms.. On 53-56 trucks rode rough so we added about 200-300lbs to the rear and that settle these trucks down,, we added it in the tailgate and added it under the bed between frame rails,, NO air shocks, Just a top of the line shock, took springs apart and put liner in between each leaf.. by doing this you will be surprised on a difference
