You can keep the rocker arm oiling simple by using pliers to close the tubes. That reduces the passage size, keeping more oil in the shaft, while still passing oil for the timing chain. Retaining the tubes also provides a way for air to bleed out from the rocker shaft. If you completely plug the passage, any air that may be inside the shaft has no means to purge since all of the other oiling holes are on the bottom of the shaft.
Customizing a pump for high volume is an absolute waste of time, money, and effort. You do not need it. Even the guys running 7000+ rpm 500+ hp Y-Blocks use a standard volume pump. You can put the money to much better use elsewhere.
The high volume pump will also reduce the efficiency of the engine since a greater volume of oil requires more power in order to turn the pump. That is an increase in parasitic loss. You don't want that, particularly if it will provide absolutely no benefit.
You can also run the pan dry with a high volume oil pump. When that happens, it is a no volume oil pump, which is a very bad thing. Some of the truck oil pickups will be more vulnerable to this than others.

Ok i apprecieate the info on the rocker oiling, well let me ask you this...whats your oil pressure after driving around at 55-60 for a while...reason being is, now this is really my dad asking but he only had one y block in a two tone green 64 f100..hes saying his wasnt great..."but then again ive never had one that was freshly built...maybe most of my engines i truly did anything with but drive, the cam bearings were worn out enough to let out some pressure.."

A fresh, correctly rebuilt Y should have 45- 50 psi minimum at about 2000rpm, hot.
If you have pressure problems, it is not the volume of the pump. The problem is most likely excessive bearing clearance but could be other things, like a bad gasket, loose plug, or crack or breakage causing pressure to bleed off.

Well the 390 may ge on its way out...time to put the 292 build into overdrive...
Put the oil to air cleaner breather assembly on today, helped ALOT on blow by so now it has full pvc system...we'll find out how long thatlast...the comp test we did 4 months ago showd 2 SLIGHTLY low cylinders..but they were all really good especially for a worn out pasture built motor..it didjt have any issues before we took the cab off and it sat 2 1/2 years...well it was a good engine if its on its way out..ots on its way out i guess..
Pulled the pcv valve out today and it didnt die...uh oh..the valve is 3 months old and has suction when when i put my finger on it and clicks...dads weirded out by it as he's seen motors act this way but never run this good ..now he did see a 400m that kept blowing intake gaskits to the point that if youd lean on it that it would blwo both sides and squirt oil out up on the air and all over...and it sounded good...but not with all the our symptoms, we,re not sure if its blowing seals or if the valve cover gaskit didnt take the first time, but we shall see..if not we cant afford to buy a quart a week..the 292 build is bleeding us dry....we will have to park it until the 292 is ready..
Is theyre a way to post short videos on here id liek to post the video of the engine running, i can always use youtube..but this would be simpler to me in this case

By the way if anyone needs a t98 transmission with PTO and driveline e brake i still have one out of the '62 f600 , I have yet to pull the top but Pulled the shift cane and took a flash light and looked in it and it looks pretty good,problem is that the pin to keep the cane from turning is gone..but I'm pretty sure its not in the tranny as I can turn it...Ive thought about inspecting the syncros and odds and end springs and putting them in the t98 thats in the 64. as its in really good shape, so the 62 tranny would still be really nice...idk I'm looking towards a 5 speed o/d anyway so I'm not sure if ill fight it,I may just clean it and paint it up and put some fresh gear oil in it and put it up for sale on here. If memory serves me right it has a 22 teeth speedometer driven gear.
But since I mentioned that, I guess ill list some parts that I would sell or trade

and yes where the carpet is pulled back is where you're seeing the towels and water where the new windshield still leaks...this Friday Im picking up some windshield sealant...I already took it back to the glass shop and that did no good....idk i may have a new seal put in by someone else...not sure what Im going to do yet
