Since the 460 that is in my 66 right now has issues I will most likely got with a 302 or 351-W and since I will most likely find one in a van or 80 and newer truck it will have a rear sump pan so will it work or have to convert to front sump pan.

I have a 66 that I am going to put a 351W in also. I have the engine rebuilt and setting on the stand. When I was putting it together I put a front sump pickup and pan on it, but when I started measuring things it just didn't seem right so I switched to a rear sump. I'm hoping my measurements were right so I don't have to switch back to a front sump. I'm sure somebody out there has done this engine swap and can say for sure which is right.

Subscribing. Have a 65 long bed I'm planning on going with a 302/auto transplant once I find a donor.

I have a 65 f100 with a 302 front sump and from the pictures I have it looks like rear sump will work. Tom

Using a rear sump truck pan on the 351W in my 65 no clearance issues at all.
