The last time I went to McDonalds
There was a guy cleaning (long handled dust mop)
He was dusting above the French fry fryer
I could see the little particles floating in the air dropping into the grease
When I paid , my bill was $16. 53
I handed her 2 $10.00 bills , a $1.00 bill , 2 quarters & 3 pennies .....
She looked at all that , then looked at me like
Then she slowly started tapping at her cash register & it opened
She then handed me a $5.00 bill v-e-r-y slowly , with a look on her face like....
"How-in-the-world-did -that-guy-know-how-to-do-that" look
Easy , he orders the same thing every time ! :P

Drove my '64 F-100 to Greensboro, NC this morning to pick-up some new furniture. Best part was driving the truck! I would post a pic but it's impossible to do so on this site anymore....  :?

Funny, I watched a movie called.. The Founder, on Sunday night, as you probably already know it's about McDonalds, and how it grew
was interesting how it grew and how the brothers didn't like change, but were spot on with the idea... keep it simple and keep it cheap.
most of that has gone out the door these days. A lot of international travellers, eat at McDonalds.. because it's familiar to them
I should also add, Subways is the same..

I've been busy thrashing on yard and garden stuff. My wife and I spent the last few weekends removing about 500 square feet of sod from the backyard to make room for our raised garden beds. We knocked out two of these, got them placed and filled with soil:

Image

They're about 10 feet long overall, and 4 feet wide at the ends. All cedar 2x6 and 2x4, and I bought a Kreg pocket hole jig specifically for this project so no exposed fasteners. :D

Each one holds 1 cubic yard of soil, and we'll be building 2 more plus a rectangular 4' x 10'. We had a pair of raised beds at our previous house but we're going to end up with about 4 to 5 times as much area for veggies and we still have about 2000 square feet of lawn left in the backyard, lol.

Nice work M, we have had raised garden beds for some time now, they are good on your back LOL
one thing we have noticed is that the water/ moisture quickly drains out of the soil, so make sure you have
plenty of organic materials in the soil, plus some kind of Water saving crystals to help retain the moisture .. keep us posted how it goes!

Thanks Alan! We also do the "square foot" (0.0929 square meter?) gardening method where you plant a certain number of seeds in each square, rather than rows. Makes for less weeding and we found it worked well in our previous raised beds. As for soil we got some good stuff from a local landscaping supply that has compost and peat moss mixed in. Adding zeolite is a must around here which we also did.

Thanks! I wish I bought the Kreg jig years ago. I think it'll come in handy in the future for sure.

Facebook has given a lot of us some ways to communicate
with many other members with pictures and content, but as
was mentioned, I have encountered some trolls on there as well.
People like that I have no time for, and love to see banned!
Luckily we don’t have to deal with that here because most of
us know each other and have met at past Slick Stocks!
Oh we have had a couple of them in the past but got rid
of them in short order! Our Admins won’t stand for it!
I will be glad to see a new way to post pictures on here
again soon. Really miss being able to see the articles that
were here with pictures. See you all in KC! TR!

I know what you're going thru Lowell. When my parents sold the farm my brother and I spent the summer and fall cleaning out 52 years of stuff, and you've got 75 years of treasures to go thru. I don't envy you at all. Aren't you glad you have a Slick to help out?
