trade mechanical tach for electric tach

I have an electric 4000 rpm tach that I had converted about five years ago.
It worked perfectly with my gas engine.
It does not work well with my diesel.
I am running it with a Dakota digital box.
I would like to trade for a mechanical tach in good shape.
