What are these for?

Was in the 223 gasket kit I bought for my truck

Valve and tappet cover seals, the studs pass thru the cover , then these seals, then nuts... they always leaked on my 292 y block...

Roger that. That is what I thought but confused by the fact there were 6. Not sure why two extra unless it was for the older style valve cover like I had on the blue engine that was in my truck to start with.

Current engine was out of a ‘60 F100.

4 for the valve covers, two for the valley cover. on a yblock. Also used on the 223 six and 260, valve cover and side cover.
They don't have to leak if properly installed.
