Pictures of pedal linkage needed six cylinder

Post by mongrot »

My '61 flareside was pretty messed up when I got it. Got most everything fixed but the linkage at the carb was farm fixed with a steel plate and coat hanger (which has been incredibly reliable for the past 2 years  ) but I'm trying to get it back to original and wondered if anyone could help me out and share some pictures of the correct linkage between the firewall and carb, especially at the carb. It's a 223 straight 6 with the holley 1904.

Yea, I found the pictures of 50's linkage too and got a rough idea of the setup but would really appreciate some pics of the original 61-64s of some members' rides.

I'm sure someone can get pictures but you can also try looking in a shop manual. I don't know if there will be a picture of the linkage specifically but you may be able to see it in a picture which is being used to illustrate something else. If you don't have a shop manual, get one. One of the best tools you can have for these.

Page 152 in the shop manual shows you the 223 carb linkage the part you apear to be asking about is a swivel barrel that either clips on to a mini hitch type ball, screws onto the linkage, or a combination of both, about 1/4" round and somewhere about 1 1/2" long connect the bell crank to the carb

Yes, that's the mysterious area I was hoping to get a picture of. Mostly need to know which manifold hole to bolt onto and how exactly the 2 inch long linkage rod connects to the bell crank and at the carb without binding. Sticks wide open or falls off at the moment so I know something is wrong.

A picture or 2 would be awesome and a manual would probably be a good idea too, I'll have to keep an eye out for one at the swap meets. If someone could grab a picture with their phone and send it to me at 306-720-0129, it might be more convenient than logging back in and uploading since I understand it's a kind of a pain.

Manuals are reprinted. No need to look for an original.

Well now, that makes more sense. Mine's rigged up with the swivel connection sitting on a riser plate 4" above the carb so that it pulls up on the arm at the carb and and binds up if the throttle is 3/4 to wide open. I'll set it up like this one and see how it goes.
