Stuck brakes after winter storage

Post by Zax63 »

Early last year I completely went through the brake system. New master cylinder, new lines, new wheel cylinders, pads, etc. The brakes were working great. But sadly over the winter aside from starting it up every couple weeks it just sat in the garage. Went to pull it out of the garage yesterday and the brake pedal did not budge. I tried pumping on it aggressively but still it didn't move an inch. So i'm guessing something has seized, most likely the plunger on the master. Has anybody has anything like this happen before? If so what caused it?

Try opening one of your bleeder fittings and put a little pressure on the pedal...might get a some movement

I pulled the boot back where the pedal rod goes into the MC and fluid poured out. Guess the MC is toast. Sad, it was less than a year old. Maybe a good excuse to upgrade to a dual chamber.

hate to hear this Zax but it happens.. I am getting ready to install my 3rd master in about 6 years... new parts aren't what they are cracked up to be.. buy the lifetime so you at least can exchange it out if it happens again...
