Hualed a small load of iron

Post by slick4x4 »

Hauled a small load of iron into the scrapyard today
Mostly just old cut off pieces of metal
A few pieces of copper & aluminum & brass
Just cleaning up the shop & buildings
The big stuff will go in later ....
Had it in the F350 (tonner)
1700#
I figured that should be enough to make it ride a little softer
Nope ... I don't think that made it go down an inch
But at least I got enough $ to fill up the gas tank & take the wife to Wendy's

That's a triple win, you get things cleaned up a little more, a tank of gas and you got to take Colleen out for a meal. Hey, it doesn't get much more romantic than a nice meal at Wendy's, but you have to go inside to eat, you lose the romantic part if you drive through.

Pat when we bring in some iron, Truck gets fuel, Kathy gets a share of the $$$ since she is helping in loading, I get a little of what's left in which is not much anymore

When I went in to get my money
Car pulling a trailer of stuff
Very nice looking cub cadet riding mower.......
When I say "nice looking"
I mean , if you would wax it up.. it would pass for used one season
All tires were up & looked good
I told the guy " I would have killed for that when I was a kid"
He said " it don't start & im tired of fooling with it"
Him & i are on opposite ends of the spectrum ...
Getting a "dead" machine running , is just a challenge

I am with you Pat, My cub cadet seems to have a two or three issues a season.
I am cutting about two acres of natural meadow that grows a new crop of rocks every year, right now the charging system is only extending the battery charge I have to give it about every three mows.
It is just one of the joys of keeping and maintaining equipment and trucks.

I had a mower that wouldn't keep battery charged
I made a box on the side that held a car battery
Usally could get by with 3 recharges a season

When I was cleaning up my shop in Michigan before I moved I had a scrapper come out and clean up all the metal. He paid me more than I could get at the scrap metal place & I didn't have to touch it. He brought a mini excavator with a thumb on it. Worked great loading the metal scrap bins. I came out with a couple grand when he was all done. He was happy & so was I.

About 15 years ago I sold a bunch of stuff to a scrapper
Price was high & he gave me a good bid
I took the money
Then the price dropped quick
If he broke even it would surprise me ...
Ive hauled about $250 in ...
Probably about 1/2 of it so far
But the buildings around here are looking good !!!
(I can actually park vehicles in them )

Pat the place we go to has a axle scale, front axle was 4250lbs and then the rear was 15,150 so yes it was a little light on front end , at least it's on 20 miles from here
