this hurt my heart

Post by redstone65 »

Image

Was driving home from work and just died at a red light. Cranked it back up and it was ok until 2 red lights later and it died again. This time it would crank and start for a split second and then die. Tried quite a few times with the same pattern/result. Seems to be getting fuel, so I'm not sure at this point until I get some time to troubleshoot. Could be the gross GM/HEI distributor I have. Maybe the coil pack on it went out.

I've been towed a million times, but this is the first time for Sgt. Green getting hoisted. [Depressed]

That sucks. Hope you can get a diagnosis and get back on the road soon!

Thanks brother. Yep, I found the issue this afternoon at lunch. One of the ignition wires feeding the coil had come loose (bad 2to1 crimp). bang.gif

Thats way better than having to pay a technician $90 an hour to diagnose a 2018 vehicle !

Well, what are the odds of this. After fixing the wire and driving to work, it wouldn't crank when I came out to go home. All I got was a click. Ended up being a bad starter solenoid. That solenoid has been fine for the past year and then all of a sudden it dies literally one crank after the other problem is fixed. Truck karma is weird sometimes.

Yeah you are right there. Seems like when you have it all licked something else comes up out of the blue and sends you backwards a step or two.
