Tilt column for straight axel trucks just got a lot easier..

The short of the conversation is you can swap in the newer worm assembly (65 and up) and have a short factory splined shaft, in your straight axel box. (Or vise versa if you can come up with a reason to.)

Making fitting a tilt column (collapsing safety column) like the factory did on newer trucks much simpler.
So the mount at the dash and firewall will be the largest hurdles to cross.

Just wanted this information available here for the straight axel guys to use .

While that may solve the issue of cutting / welding, I "think" the issue will still be the mounting location of the straight axle box. That stub will be at floorboard level and would call for a VERY short column.

Actually the latest update to that thread has found that it Will Not Work.
So cutting the original 3/4" worm shaft and cutting flats, for a double D U-joint to mount, is the only current option with an original box. And as for the short column, a custom length flaming River or Idiot were the only choice I knew of.
