October trip in a Slick

Post by Anthony »

so every year we try and take the little over 400 mile round trip to Warriors Path State park in Kingsport TN for Halloween. Eventually is starting to show her daily driverness and hopefully I will get her back to looking good soon... she is a beast with the 300 six (second time around :) ) we travel Rt 23 so we cross over Pound Mt and Big Stone Gap Mt to get to Weber City Va where we visit with family before heading to the campground 9 miles away. the 4:10 gears couples with the granny 4 speed and 300 will pull a house up the mountains and she don't seem to struggle at all. she won't top the mountains at 60MPH but will pull forever! I love my old truck and wouldn't think of making another my daily driver and work horse..

That's a beautiful engine bay right there.

That sounds like so much fun! My wife grew up not too far from Big Stone Gap. When her grandparents were still alive, we'd go back to visit and her granddaddy would get me to drive him over to a little store in Big Stone so he could catch up with some of his old buddies he worked with in the mines. Great memories and gorgeous scenery. It is awesome you are using your truck to enjoy family and the great outdoors. And I agree that's a sexy engine bay!!
