61 Red and White long box

Post by jayscot »

I have not posted anything but have been working on it off and on for a couple of years. Finished a lot of things but this week while working on one of my 223 engines that was in a truck I bought, I think I found the reason it was parked. #2 intake runner was so thin it eventually cracked a quarter size hole out into the water jacket- or in, into the runner. This engine had received a rebuild in the past but there were a lot of miles since the rebuild as could be seen from the bearings.
So it had been parked likely because of the hole from the intake to the cooling system. Then while parked it froze solid in a cold winter after that and put a massive split in the block under the front two frost plugs. Thankfully I have three more engines to pick and choose parts from. And that is where I am at this month. I am trying to make one or two running engines.

All I could figure out was how to put a link to the pictures. They open in a new window.

or does it only work with this link? https://5862270.com/61Ford/head-chip.jpg

Thanks for checking the links. For me the https does not work at all. So I put both in there for whatever works- use it.

Living out west in Canada is a bit remote compared to living in populous areas of the States where there are machine shops and supplies nearby. Everything here is a bit slower to get done, but it's coming. Gotta get one of the cranks turned and some bearings and gaskets purchased so i can start to reassemble.

The goal is to be drivable by the summer's end.

Welcome formally to the site! Unfortunately, I can't view your links but good luck with the machine work and repairs. Living in a populated area has its drawbacks too, but we eventually get all of the stars to align, and our truck is running again. Keep us posted on your progress
