It had a 20 year old license plate on it
I went thru the brakes & fuel system…
And did lots of little maintenance to get it alive
There were a. Lot of times I had a feeling…
That somebody was watching me
Which happens occasionally here on the farm
Somebody will come in & I won’t hear them
As I might be grinding or something
I was at the drill press & was certain somebody was behind me
I shut it off & turned around …
I said (to no one ?) ?.. “im just fixing it up to run…
Im not going to hot rod it or anything “ …..
After that … I never did get that feeling again
….
I’ve never had a truck that was much more reliable …
Even though a few things don’t work on it
I can let it sit 3 months out in the weather
I will jump in & the brake pedal will only go down
A couple inches & it’s solid
Pull out the choke & crank & it starts right up …
…
I went out today, it has sat about 2 months hooked to a tank
Jumped in & headed to the coop for fertilizer
Loaded it with about 11,000 pounds of nitrogen fertilizer
The little 223 has no problem pulling it
I roll about 30mph , which is what most everybody goes
That pulls these trailers …

Kinda amazing … a 60 year old truck is just as good in some jobs
As a brand new $50k+ Truck will do (though they do have some things mine don’t)
Like … AC , cruise , Radio , payments….
