Aluminum intake 352

Post by jeepbut »

Looking for a four barrel aluminum intake for my 66 with a 352. Something mild, not radical. It's a stock frequent driver. I have a four barrel off of a 77 460 I want to use.

I've been pleased with the mileage and low rpm torque with an Edelbrock SP2P 390 on my 352 65' F-250 4 speed. 4800 was about all it would do rpm wise. An FE guru used one on his 66' F-250 with a 390 in the 70's and 80's to tow his race cars around the states. I live in a mid sized city. Empty with 4.10 gears it got a consistent 13.1 to 13.4 at 80 mph. Got 15 at 65. Being either in town or on the Interstate didn't have much time at 55. Cornering through yield signs or green lights at 12mph+ it could stay in third gear and be smooth coming out. 28,000 gvw was it's heaviest. Got 6.2 mpg running 70mph that trip.

EDIT: I would compare it to my 1996 351 F-250. Your 77 460 600 Holley is said to be an excellent carburetor. I never got a chance to pair it with my set up. I tried an Edelbrock Performer for a bit but it lacked the low rpm torque the small ports on the SP2P provided. Probably would have been better top end, but this was a dependable daily driver.
