New Guy with a New Toy

Post by Boosted »

Hey everyone! Newb here to this site and my first Ford pickup. It is a 65 F100 that is tweaked some. 460 BBF, C6 and a 9". Truck rides great and runs ok for a stock motor that has some age on it.

I don't know if I want to keep it or trade it off yet as I got this one on a trade for some Network work I done for a company over the past year. Anyways the more I look at it the more I like it so who knows I might just go ahead and put the 545 stroker in it and play some. I have been doing some reading about the brakes and I will change them first if I keep it.

Here is a picture of it and if you see anything that the guy before me done that nees to be changed besides the brakes and the interior please let me know.. Truck is still a leaf spring setup that ride's great...

"Leaf spring setup" ?????

I do believe that you have a twin Ibeam front end there. It was a LONG time before Ford went to coil springs in there rear, if that's what you meant.

The difference matters -- if its twin I beam, then disk brakes are just a spindle swap away. You should consider this, even if you are "only" going to keep the 460!!! And of course, read the thread about dual chamber master cylinder......
1965 F-100 240 Autolite 1101, Disk brake dual master upgraded, swapped over to C4 and powersteering. Bought by my Dad new in March 65'

1683

Planned/considered upgrades:
Perhaps power brakes, 300 I6 motor and JUST maybe, AC!

The rear end is a leaf spring setup.. Not a 4 link or ladder bar..

If you get the spindles from a 73/74, it's a spidle swap. After that, the king pins changed, so it will take more than just the spindles, either machining, or replacing the axles and spindles, among a few other pieces.

That is a good looking truck (not to fond of the purple)

We love our Slicks here and I think you should keep it!

Welcome to the board!

Where are you located? We have people all over.

I have the parts in my garage for the swap to do the brakes, but they are a bit hevy to ship.

nice truck.tubs look almost stock.i can even deal with the wood bed floor.guess purple is not a big crowd pleaser here but other than that i would consider it a keeper.
if you decide to keep it and hang out in here, i can guarantee lots of help.if you trade it off good luck but
you really dont know yet what you are missing out on.

I have not heard anything from him on the trade thing and I already told the wife if this does not work out I am keeping it. I already found a 557 stroker kit for it so that and the brakes are first on the list.. i can live with the purple for a little while..
