New guy... don't "technically" own a slick..

but my daughter does!

Its a 66 with a 352 and a 4 speed... she gave up a 2003 Cavalier for this!

Shes been drivin it for about a year and decided shes ready for some upgrades this summer. She bought a 69 LTD with a 390/auto... we're gonna clip the truck, swap in the 390/auto and rewire it.

She wants to lower it a bit and spray a fresh coat of primer while she decides what color(s) she'd like to paint it.

Nice place round here... hope to show some progress as soon as we get started!

Welcome to you both (you're guilty by association! LOL) If she is eventually going to lower it, guys on here have put the slick body on the LTD frame...

Nice truck and GREAT to see the young ones are still coming up right.

nice truck!

KEEP IT FLAT BLACK!!! It looks WICKED!!! haha I was undecided as to color at one point in time, but I came to a resolution that "Once you go black you can't go back!!!"

I'm going to eventually go for some actual satin black paint and satin clear coat when It comes time (after extensive planned body mods-as seen in my sig.)

If it were mine I would swap in the 390 for sure, keep the 4 speed, and swap in the rear axle pumpkin from the LTD for a better (numerically lower) ratio.
My truck has a 390 and a C6, I like it a lot, but oh how I wish I had a good manual! and she already has one!

I would give up a 2003 Cavalier for that too!

A cool chick with a cool truck, doesn't get any better than that! 8)
Welcome aboard, looking forward to future updates. :)

I have to ask...what are the round things in the grille? That's a different look, that looks purty good.

thanks for the welcome!

I saw the LTD frame swap and it looks really good... I like to stay away from frame swaps though... too many mounts to make!

Its faster for me to clip a car anyway and she'd like the shortest down time possible.. she really loves driving this truck!

The round things in the grille are drawer knobs... The previous owner did it. Its the only part of the truck shoe doesn't like! She'd really like to find a stock grill for it..

She likes it in primer... might be a LONG time before she paints it!

Thats a very nice truck.
It being a 66 I personally would not attemt a frame clip especially from a 69 LTD. It having indepenent suspension from the factory I see too much work for too little gain. That suspension is basically the same as a 1996 F-150.
The 390 will bolt right up.
Good luck!!
I can drive it home with one headlight.

so maybe you can take it off her hands? I dont think she's gonna appreciate your compliment, based on previous statements!!! haha

keep it primer/sating black! it's sweet! haha and it hides all the small imperfections that wreak hell on a shiny paint job...
