I drove past our favorite junkyard/weed forest outside of Bernville yesterday.
Not good.
Probably 75% of the inventory has met the crusher. The heavily wooded part to the left of the office is still there, probably because they will have to cut down trees to get to the cars. There are a few pieces apparently being 'held' with spray painted X marks but the vast majority are being squashed. There are also a few K Line shipping containers there; I'm guessing somebody somewhere must have bought some stuff. I did not have time for a personal visit or inspection so can't tell you if the trucks out in the back field have hung on or met their demise.
Really a shame. 6000 vehicles, most of which had lots of good parts left. The owners inability to market what they had made scrap metal prices look too good to pass up I suppose.
The classic junkyard is becoming a thing of the past. If you've got one near you, support it while it's still there.
