uni update

we went to see the short 61 uni today,
nice day for a 150 mile round trip in her slick.

definitely going to rescue the poor girl. lots of elbow grease and drying out of the interior needed but overall not much rust to speak of,and none in critical areas. tailgate needs a bit of help.
some of the pics turned out dark.the chrome grille is very nice.

probably be about 3 weeks before i can get it paid for and hauled out here.

not sure how i ended up having to have a 2wd shortbed truck?


oh, i remember , so i can have a slick that gets good enough mileage to drive down to go drink beer with the rest of you in a hotel parking lot in 2 years.

you also can use a 2wd when there is no snow on the ground.

mine now, all i have to do is go get it. 2 weeks time, almost like waiting for slickstock.

did find out a theres a lot of extra parts to go along with it. engine currently in it has a brand new head, needs lower end done. has the 9" rear end too.

need to find the T-5 trans now.

Brian, look for the 94-95 Mustang T-5 and a S-10 tailshaft. Easiest & cheapest way to do the conversion.

Nice uni. It would be cool to see a pic of that at slick stock. What would even be cooler is a pic of that at a SS with my slick next to it or a few spaces down.. LOL


Speeking of T5s. The other day on the speed channel Stacy David ( Is that his name???LOL) was talking about a company that makes a bunch of different sizes and shapes of shift levers for the T5. The info may be avalible on the Speed channel web site. Just a thought.. I'll have to do some searhing when I'm not on dial-up...

Doesn't look that bad for being an Alaskan truck.

Just get an S-10 T5...they are good to 235 hp. I don't think that 223 will do more than that.

Will the 223 bell accept the t-5 tranny? Certainly, the manual trannies behind a 223 would have included the venerable t-98 and that in turn, was also used behind lots of SBF bell pattern engines.

So perhaps it will work.

Would seen to be a great tranny behind a small six for mileage.

Lets see.... About 3450 miles from Takeetna to DesMoines. 23 mpg at best. That's an even 150 gallons of gas. At $4 that would be $600 one way.

Funny to see that roof, Im a Project Engineer for a construction company and we are installing a Green Roof system on the new Blue Cross Blue Shield Headquarters Building. I will print this picture out and bring it to my next meeting. A sample of a green roof system.
To be honest that truck almost looks as if its art....very cool. Have a good one re-building...it will be fun.

John Mummert sells an adaptor plate for the T5/ 223/y block bells.

plane ticket to KC was $750, $1200 for the drive not too bad.

Fred did the 23 mpg with his, dont see why i would not get similar mileage.

Yeah, I pulled the 23 from thin air. But sounds like I was pretty close. Whats interesting is that at 23 mpg, the math for 3450 miles is ExACTLY 150 gallons. It was wierd when I punched it in the calculator.

I think its a sign you are supposed to come to SSIV!!!!
