Dav, My front suspension is out of a 1996 EL Falcon, they have strut type springs and shocks which are replaced with coil over shocks, ( that's different some how!), the kit came from a Melbourne based crowd by the name of The Pickup Place, if you don't count pulling the old front suspension out, I reckon a weekend should see it rolling and fully welded in.

Saturday, I started on the radiator support panel, there must of been some shimmy shaking going on in the front end to enlarge the mount holes like this!
[img][/img]
I cut out the bad bits and welded in some new

[img][/img]

I didn't worry too much about the look, it wont be seen!

I also made this after some advise from Tim, Tim is it what you meant and do you think it will work?, of cause the beautification work will follow later  !

:( the bottom of those core supports is poorly designed, when you consider the amount of water and in some places I`ve even heard of snow getting in there!, is that little hole next to the bolt hole supposed to be a drain hole? if it is I`m going to up size it!.
Tim, Mate your gotta get the work boots off as often as you can and put on the Suzie Wong's! and let the old toes have a breather! hurrah.gif

Well that's Easter for another year!, Friday-Sea food and Booze up at mates place, Saturday- B/day party at our place for eldest Grandson, Sunday late start strip paint off core support. Today Monday I know I`ll take the cab off! don`t try this on your own, quick story made lift bracket and bolted into cab!
[img][/img]

take truck out side for room!

[img][/img]

what a joke! this thing was no way balanced, it was a fight the whole way, if you have a extra set of hands I would do it again but not on your own!!

Anyhow the cabs off now the Chassis is back in the shed and its raining!

Another thing that dawned on Me is the floor pan! you know how the driver`s side is the bigger of the two, They didn't change that! our drivers side is the small side, which push`s the motor to the right side where the starter, steering, brake booster are!, no wounder there`s no room! :? Sorry Just having a whinge!

Dave, hold your horses mate!, that thing was that far out of balance I nearly lost it! did you notice the high tech bag of cement balancer in the cab, need more bags! :( , besides I kind off copied it from Kstones65/ Kevin, I have an idea how to fix it by moving the centre ( spelt correctly! ) of gravity forward with a balance bar going backwards  :? will explain later I think!

Chris, good time to do some wet sanding! :P by the way Matesar is there a good March Performance dealer near you? PM me!

Alan,
When I took mine off I had 2 other people to help balance the cab and it wasn't too bad to get off. When I put it back on the frame, I am going to have four extra people (4 to balance & 1 for the hoist) to guide the cab back on. I know that I don't want to scratch the firewall after all the work I put into it.
Keep up your good work.
Kevin

Alan/Keystone-you could make it a 3 point by putting 2 eyes outboard toward the seat mount holes
and extending the center eye forward with another bar. That should make it a 1 man job.

Dave, that's kind-of what I was thinking, the other problem is you are lifting from the bottom of the load with the weight above the lifting point!, so chains x3 moving the lift hook up to just under the turret should balance it out?

:( progress seems slow at the moment!, 1 month since last up date  ,I`ve just been pulling the motor and tranny out and doing some more welding. Today was a RDO so I took the motor to the engine builder this morning , He is in the same hot rod club as me if that counts for anything!, anyhow he rang me this afternoon and said all seems fine with the internals, the valve seats need replacing, he advised a new cam while its out, and there was a bit of a surprise! 8)
[img][/img]

forged pistons and they are all balanced!

[img][/img]

the block is only 30thou over size

[img][/img]

were going for a second stage cam and a general tidy up
