Re: How Much Tongue Weight Can The Frame Handle?

]This skid is 2600 lbs.
Trailer is about 2-2500 lbs
Probably 6-700 lbs young weight.
I have had 4000 lbs on this trailer with zero issues.
F-250 extra leaves in the rear.

Re: new starter on't engage

Take the starter off and grease the shaft that the bendix is on.
I had to do the some thing on a welding machine a couple of weeks ago.

Re: MPG with a Cummins...

I swapped a 4BTA into my 66 F250 and milage is in the low 20’s.
Far better than the 13 mpg with the 300/6. Cummins has a lot more torque as well.
I am very happy with the swap.

Re: Horn button springs

difficult with torch without overheating. The easiest way is to find a piece of heavy tubing the spring will fit in. Heat the tube with the spring inside until the spring is no longer magnetic (1450) heat a little higher because material must be at critical temp (1450) when it goes into quench. Almo...

Re: Horn button springs

You could try to retemper the ones that have been in the fire.
Heat to non magnetic 1450 quench in oil.
Warm to maybe 400 let cool. If spring is to stiff reheat to a higher temperature and let cool.

Heater switch

My heater switch arcs when I turn it on.
I assume there must be a insulator around the shaft that opens the defroster.
Has anyone tried to disassemble and rebuild one of these cables?
