Silly me, forgot to mention to check the grounds, these things are 40-some-odd years old... clean clean clean makes it work better, & makes the other tests a bit more valid.

Simple checks w/o disconnecting anything... Grab the handy-dandy digital multimeter, read the battery voltage with nothing on. Should read about 12.2-12.6. A reading of 10 something is a dead cell, generally, or a discharged battery. We'll find out shortly. With the engine running, an alternator wil...

223 distributor
Did the last year of the 223 ('64) use a bigger oil pump? Bad advance and coil wire in mine led me on another hunt, they do not sell just those parts apparently, so I ended up with a rebuilt from Cardone. The first one was incorrect, for the 300. It was a Load-o for sure, but the base was wrong, had...

Uncle Skip I figured that would be the route I'd have to take, I just had to know that was going to work. About 8V is what I want then... Peck**(()$) cut the switch plug as well as everything else he could reach, I was hoping to rebuild stock. But, hey, it's all open(s) now. Black Agatha Yes, you kn...

but bad choices... This past weekend, someone decided they needed to go home in a classic. Several hours later, after failed attempts at the classics that are here at my apartments, a motorcycle disappeared. This was after busting a vent wing on a nice '70 C&*## & being stopped by a kill swi...

ignition ballast wire
I am looking for the ignition resistor wire, the pink wire, for my lil' red pick-em-up. A little story behind it, I'll probably get into that in another post, but mine was cut this weekend ( as well as a bunch of other stuff) in a failed theft attempt. The local parts houses (when I have the time to...

C is run position, goes to the red wire with a green connector, to the pink resistor wire. B is ACC, to fuse, gauges, et al... It is hot in the run position as well as the acc position. I think A is the common batt in, I have back-up beams and a spotlite hooked to mine, just another common tie point...

I am running a late 90's Ford van radio under the seat, it fits snug on the floor. The big button controls were just what I wanted. One knob for the volume, big button presets, all reached from driving position. For the antenna, I ran bell wire up to the back window and under the seal. A pair of out...
