what is this??

Post by flyingv »

trying to disconnect the wiring at the radiator support and I broke the connection that goes to this cylindrical piece that looks like an electrical condenser or capacitor. I don't know what this cylindrical piece is, or if I need it. Can someone help me? Thanks guys. Sorry about the photo quality, I'm using a camera phone.

A condenser for supressing radio noise from the ignition.

Thanks uncle skip. This part is wired into the wiring for the headlights and turn signals. Is it something I need?

Not really.
I have no idea why it would be wired into the headlights, but if you get static on your radio, put it on the power wire leading to the radio and it should stop the buzzing.

Skip, if it is a condenser, it most likely has gone belly up by now, best to buy a new one if you are going to use one. Condensers do go bad from drying out if I remmember correctly.

Hey Skip,
I bet I know why the condensor is there. It's probably wired to headlamp circuitry because at some point in time,
Mr Goodwrench must have worked on his truck, or so I would surmise from experience. . . . :rotflmao:
