My 1963 Slick with a 1966 Bell UH-1 Iroquois "Huey"!! This ones set up in the "Slick" configuration. This particular ones got a lot more miles than mine does though it's been in Danang, Chu Lai, Marble Mountain, Futema, just to name a few and its still flying! Two great looking Ol' Slicks together!! All you need is some yellow stenciling on the door that says USAF. It is already A/F blue and parked next to the Huey it looks right at home. Good looking 63.

To get the lettering and numbering correct for your 63 it would have to be
US Air Force
63BXXXX

Air Force vehicles were numbered by 63=Year B+ pick up or light truck and the last four was either the last four of the serial number or the consecutive number bought that year. I have heard both ways. I do however think it was the last four of the serial number unless that number was repeated in which a fifth number would be included.

I took quite a few flights in one of those slicks. I didn't think there were any still flying. That's pretty neat to see after all these years. Thanks putting it on here.

Yeah not too many around flying anymore. This ones based out there at my job. There is also a Helicopter repair station out there too and those guys are Vets and have rebuilt a number of Hueys over the years. I've only seen one other Slick out there over the years and it still had an old beer can and a pepsi can they had used to patch a couple of holes in the side of the chopper. Important part of history those ol birds! And thanks to all the vets for their service and sacrifice!

Spanky.
I hope to have a surprise for all you Huey lovers later this year.
UH-'s are the Model A Ford of Helicopters. There aren't any in the US because everybody in what ever country you care to name who can afford one buys them.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

There aren't too many of the Vietnam-era Hueys flying but Marines have some very modern Yankee models, aka UH-1Y Venom.
