*rant* "Fully Restored"

The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

*rant* "Fully Restored"

Post by BigMike »

I have eBay searches for Slicks and Jeep CJ7s and I am so F'ing tired of seeing the term "fully restored". WTF, really, WTF. Rusty frames, seat covers, cracked steering wheels, rusty engine, and a new paint job is NOT fully restored.

Mike, I understand your frustration.
Congratulations on passing a year milemarker of being with Slick 60s!
Some us go way back, and others go waaaay back. I have been with Slick 60s a little over 10 years, I think. Others have been here longer, much longer.
So yeah, we understand.

That is usually called a "liquid overhaul". A quick paint job to make it look good to sell. Now it seems that term has changed to "fully restored"...

liquid resto sounds like some crap you buy at autozone over by the lucas oil. In the army back in the 90s we swore that the tank starters we got most of the time were painted and returned. one time I had to try out 4 of them before i got one that worked

And 2 years later that liquid restore paint job is bubbling up due to poor prep work.

The one that makes me cringe is "great pattena" , which I take to mean rust thru the paint.

One of my favorite e-bay seller terms is "has that SOUGHT AFTER patina" :-)
