A wonderful piece of living history!
Very Cool!
That at the Museum Bill?
Is the XL just going to stay there or will it go to shows, or vintage races?
I can understand not racing it (worth the risk?) but even to be on display at nostalgia drags would be far too cool.

Wayne took that video at the "All Ford" show at Carlisle on Friday. As far as I know, the XL will be there on display all weekend. Also, the XL was on display at our museum (http://www.simeonemuseum.org) last November. Hopefully, we'll get it back in the museum for a bit again this fall. Here are a couple of photos from last November...
I've seen a few still pictures of the F100XL launching, just wondering if there is any video of the truck racing?

This was All Ford Weekend at Carlisle Pa. The building the truck was being backed into is the old tractor dealer now part of Carlisle and named building G by gate 1. This was the featured vehicle at Carlisle. I will upload a few more pictures as it was in the company of some famous race cars for the 427/406 lightweight reunion! there were more 427's than I ever seen in one place. A lot of SOHC 427's as well. This was the first major event since the truck was put back to original (eng/trans were out of it). It will be at Cecil County dragway in Northeast Md next weekend for a parade pass of about an 1/8 mile. Can't risk this one of a kind too much! Sorry for cutting the clip short, we needed to get the trophy's off the front seat before backing it in the building. Thanks to Sinc for uploading and starting the thread!
BTW, I have a clip from the 60s of this truck running the same dragway running a corvette
I was at this event and I want to tell you all that Bill has got to be the HAPPIEST man on earth right now. Anyone that knows him, knows that he has a memory like no other and can tell the stories with such enthusiasm ....it's like you were right there! There wasn't a sole that came by and just looked----
they ALL wanted to know about this truck AND this man !
I honestly can say that I was kinda girly just watching him interact with old friends and racing rivals! I cant say that I have ever seen someone so in his glory.
The section of the show that he was part of was a SOHC reunion and Lightweight Racing Reunion. There were cammers EVERYWHERE and BIG MOTORED drag cars from the sixties everywhere else!
And the F100 XL was right in the center of it all.http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i179/ ... XL%202012/
Bill did tell me that the truck will make a pass at one of his old regular tracks (Cecil County Dragway) next weekend !
And that he has another surprise in the works that will DEFINITELY put a "WOW" in your mind!
I'm not sure that it is my place to reveal this, but let me tell you...........I CAN"T WAIT!

i could no longer keep "r.i.p.ing" all of our fallen brothers and sisters, so i say here, slick loads of love and much respect to all you beautiful people.
I would dearly love to do so. It's on my "bucket list", but thus far haven't had the time nor the financial resources to make it happen.

I don't see how it would diminish the "one and only" at all. But we're each entitled to our opinion.

It was true sight to see it again and worth the walk from our spaces to see it again since last time I saw it,,,,, especially with all the photos Wayne has, the video of it against a Vette and of course seeing Bill , so proud like he was a Dad over again showing his first born passing out cigars +++++ seeing all the old Muscle Cars,,,,,, They sure did give him a great spot to park right by the door so it was like standing out so proud that here I am reday to kick butt.....
One thing I can say about Ford Carlisle is that if you bleed Ford Blue thats the place since Ford goes all out here and is the 2nd biggest Carlisle throughout the year only to fall behind Spring Carlisle and this year at 12:00 Noon thay all wanted everbody to Rev there motors up to Honor the late Carroll Shelby which got loud,,,,,,, anyway great to see the XL-100
