Factory tinted window glass

Post by Tyler 54 »

My 66 Parts truck has Factory tinted window glass. I have never heard or seen this until I got this truck.

How rare is this option? All glass is in good shape, been thinking of selling it to pay for other parts...

i doubt its factory unless it has the car-lite logo on it.
LMC sells tinted side, rear and windshields.
IMO unless your going to pull it for your own use i would not bother
its probably not going to make a lot of $ and packing it for shipping is a pita and hard styrofoam costs $.
i have sold and shipped lots of slick glass

sample of car-lite logo on windshield, side and rear glass similar

My windows Say HGC Glass. Rather than the logo you showed.
It's the rear glass, door glass, and wing windows all match.

So was this not a factory option ?

In 66 Tinted glass was most definitely an option and is pretty common around here. If you look it up in the Ford parts catalog it is listed. Hawkrod

Hawkrod is right, and it was optional. I forget what the glass was called but it had a name , l just don't remember it at the moment. Sure helps keep the heat down inside the cab in the summer. Speaking of glass, I bought one of the 100$ windshields off of Deep Ellum auto glass our of Dallas. Price was 100$ and I installed it in my grandsons truck using 3M bedding compound. This is tinted with the shade across the top. Ford had this option also if I remember right. I actually picked up the windshield in Baton Rouge Name was bensyn on the glass. My brother is bringing me two more this week when he comes up for my granddaughters wedding on Saturday. Also the bedding compound appears to b e a good replacement for the original Ford bedding compound. Looks to be the same stuff to me as the original. The bedding compound helps keep the rubber from leaking water, and is necessary in my opinion.

Pilkington, an oem provider of automotive glass makes a nicely tinted windshield that fits like the originals at any of your local automotive glass stores. Should be under $100.00
