Steering wheel/column interchangeability

Hey all. I'm in the process of sourcing a donor column for the uni. I'm searching the local yards to find something workable. So far I've found a 2WD 66 floor shift column and a 4WD 76 floor shift column. Neither one have a steering wheel on them.

Floor shift is what I want so no biggie there but I have a few other questions. I would like to use a stock steering wheel. Will the 61-66 wheel fit the 76 column?

One benefit to the 76 column is that it's closer to the length I need and the end is already splined. If I use the 66 column I may have to shorten it a bit and carefully modify the end into a "double D" end. That's no problem if I have to but if a 61-66 wheel will bolt onto the 76 column it may save me some work.

Opinions please

Not sure when but FORD went to the larger steering colum sometime in the 70's. Not sure that a '66 wheel would look right on the fat colum.

Forgot to mention, the 76 has a hazard flasher switch so that may be one bonus.... Maybe
